NON-CARIOUS CERVICAL LESIONS AND DENTAL WEAR: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

The high prevalence of wear factors in the young population is an alert for this change to be observed, so we can create tools that facilitate and speed up the diagnostic process. The objective of this study was to review the literature on the influence of wear facets on the appearance of non-carious cervical lesions. In vitro studies, in silico, clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analysis on wear factors and non-carious cervical lesions, with bases in Bireme, Lilacs, Pubmed and Virtual Bibliotec. Including articles portuguese, english and spanish, excluding those that are literature review, clinical case, letter to the editor, Articles with low clinical evidence and those that did not address the variables in question. The literature is scarce, thus still inconclusive by the association between non-carious cervical lesion and wear facet. New longitudinal studies are needed for a better understanding of this association, as well as research to define the universal parameters for the evaluation of dental wear and, based on new findings on the subject, to obtain the best treatment of these problems, population and daily clinic.
