Patterns and alcohol consumption among college students

This article has as objective to determine and to analyze the prevalence of alcohol use among university students and potential problems related to this consumption. This is a cross-sectional study with the use of a representative sample of university students. To gather information were used the multidimensional questionnaire, self-administered, closed, anonymous alcohol use and the Rutgers Alcohol Problem Index (RAPI).The data were analyzed by means of descriptive measures and comparisons between averages. Was Detected an alcohol consumption increasingly early between the university population and a significant percentage of young people exposed to various risks such as traffic accidents, intoxication, sexual abuse and acts of violence under the influence of alcohol. It is essential that there be a greater promotion of health between the university population concomitantly to an incisive approximation with the university context, aiming at the preparation of prevention programs directed to this population.
