Abstract

This research has the goal of analyzing the process of reinsertion of prisoners from the prison system into the labor market on the coast of Santa Catarina, following the fulfillment of their sentence in prison. The research is a qualitative and exploratory case study. Four graduates of the prison system were interviewed. It was used as a data collection instrument, the semi-structured interview, thus, the said data, were analyzed through content analysis. The participants of the research expressed their perception about the return to the labor market, reporting difficulty mainly due to social prejudice related to the egress from the prison system, being that the prejudice and discrimination are related to the type of crime committed. The respondents reported their desire to open their own company, take care of their families and stay out of the criminal system.
