The Florid Cemento-Osseous Dysplasia (DCOF) is a fibro-osseous, non-neoplastic lesion; where substitution occurs at the bone tissue by fibrous connective tissue in the maxillary. Has a predilection for female patients, melanodermic, and middle-aged, presenting as a rare condition which affects mainly the jaw bilaterally, and may occur in toothed or edentulous areas. The etiology is unknown, although there is hypothesis related the source in the periodontal ligament, since it is based on the formation of multiple areas of bone or acellular cementum enveloped by fibrous tissue. The DCOF becomes symptomatic when associated with osteomyelitis, the main worsening factor of this pathology. The differential diagnosis based on the clinical and radiographic findings, it is vital to the direction of the treatment, which in most instances is asymptomatic and the possible outcome. The objective of this article is to report a case of DCOF associated with osteomyelitis, relating the clinical features with the diagnostic method and treatment of the patient.Downloads
