Abstract

The ultracavitation (UC) is one of the noninvasive devices used frequently for reducing focal adiposity. The most investigations using this type of procedure has aesthetic changes as primary outcome, however it is unclear when it comes to of alterations related to the lipid metabolism. Purpose. To describe the triglycerides response of men underwent to UC sessions. Materials and Method. Men between 40 and 50 years old and with abdominal circumference (AC) above 90cm were included in the study. Excluded were dyslipidemic, diabetic, smokers, patients with hepatic and / or renal alterations, cardiovascular diseases, using weight loss and / or thermogenic medications or who had already performed some aesthetic treatment for abdominal adiposity. The volunteers were separated into two groups, active group (AG) and sedentary group (SG), and then underwent to eight sessions of UC on abdominal and flank region respecting seven days of interval. Blood samples were collected immediately before and 24h afterward each session which were used to measure the triglycerides (TG). Results. A total of six volunteers were evaluated. There was a mean rise of TG of 17mg/dL in the SG and 34mg/dL in the AG, both between the first and last session. In relation to AC, there was a mean reduction of 4cm to the SG and 8cm to the AG. Conclusion. UC results in elevation on TG levels of healthy men, independently of the activity physical levels.
