THE PERFORMANCE OF THE NURSE IN THE PROMOTION, ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT OF BREASTFEEDING: BIBLIOGRAPHIC REVIEW

Abstract

Nurses have an important role during the prenatal, are through their practices and attitudes that these professionals can encourage breastfeeding and support breastfeeding women, thus avoiding doubts and early weaning. The study aims to analyze the nurse’s role in promoting, encouraging and supporting breastfeeding. It is, therefore, an exploratory research of bibliographic. Conducted a search using the keywords: Breastfeeding; The nursing; Health education in Scientific Electronic Library Online database (SciELO). Analyzed ten articles that met the previously established inclusion criteria. It was observed that in the ten articles surveyed nurses are highlighted as disseminating agent promoting, encouraging and supporting breastfeeding. This study allowed to infer the importance of professional nurse acting and directing pregnant women in promoting, encouraging and supporting breastfeeding.
