FOCUSING ON GESTALT-THERAPY: A INTERNSHIP SUPERVISION EXPERIENCE REPORT

Abstract

This paper starts with a discussion about new possibilities in clinical psychology. Then it moves to present the experience of one of the authors as a supervisor of an internship in clinical psychology at a private college. The internship included sessions in the Students’ clinic of the college and in a public health clinic in the same neighbourhood of the college. It focusses on the methods applied to the internship: Brief Gestalt Therapy, and Gestalt Therapeutic Action in the context of psychological emergency clinics. It was concluded that the methodologies in discussion provided support to the therapeutic tasks and to the education of the students, each one with its own singularities and challenges.
