This paper is a result of a master degree research about human relations in the contemporaneity; and ow these relationships are being established, as well as the results upon the individuals’ psyque. After some studies in the Psychoanalysis and Critical Theory literature, it was found a kind of relationship, very close to the fetishism relationship described by Freud (1917). In this relation, a person idealizes the other as an object which should bring some kind of satisfaction, impossible to reach. This way of acting is closely attached to the contemporary society, in which the product offerings tend not to meet the real need of men; instead they tend to meet an unconscious desire that will never be satisfied. Thus, the human’s relations from the logic of capitalism, make the other an idealized object as it is in the relationship between the individual x merchandise and, likewise, their harmful consequence further increases the human helplessness in contemporary society.
