Abstract

Chronic illness has been presented as a phenomenon in which the participation of multiple fields of knowledge becomes necessary for your understanding. This article aims to discuss the illness experience of seven individuals with pain and chronic renal failure from the perspective of qualitative research in the Human Sciences in Health. Narrative interviews and thematic narrative analysis were carried out, the results of which involved three elements: the presence of limits; death as close to living and life as something mandatory. Chronic illness experience points to how the isolation and suffering are present in the daily lives of those who fell ill, which asks of everyone involved (health staff, society, who fell ill and their families) participation in changes, so chronic illness could be lived with less suffering and life threatening.
