APPLICATION OF BIOLOGICAL MEMBRANES FOR GUIDED BONE REGENERATION IN IMPLANTODONTICS: A REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Abstract

The significant development of biomaterials for use in clinical dentistry in the last decade has represented a powerful therapeutic tool in surgical activities, especially in the correction of bone defects. The guided tissue regeneration is a surgical practice in which it uses an artificial barrier called a biological membrane that serves as a barrier to epithelial migration to the success of new bone formation in areas of bone defects. Such membranes can be absorbable or not absorbable. This article discusses the use of the technique of guided bone regeneration techniques and the placement, composition, properties, advantages and disadvantages of the materials to be used.
