Objective: To evaluate the radiographic bone loss in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia. Materials and methods: Panoramic radiographs were collected in the database of a Center Specialized in Special Patients. Thus, 290 patients were selected. Of these, only 31 had adequate panoramic radiography. The remainder had unsatisfactory radiographs or absence of radiography. To the control group (CG), radiographic images were collected and paired to patients of the same sex, age and without systemic pathologies.. The radiographs were analyzed in a dark chamber with a negatoscope, a magnifying glass, and a plastic ruler. The evaluator was calibrated (?a = 0.87). The data were separated into two groups: patients with chronic myeloid leukemia and control patients. The bone loss was considered to be the case in the presence of a distance between the cementoenamel junction and the bony crest in the proximities of a first molar> 4 mm. The statistical test selected was Qui Quadrado, with a statistical significance level of 5%. Results: The results showed that the measurements were <4 mm, with 28 (90.3%) of the sites in the Control Group and 25 (80.7%) of the sites in the Leukemia Group (p> 0.05). For the measurements> 4mm, there were 3 (9.7%) of the sites in the Control Group and 6 (19.3%) in the Leukemia Group - p <0.05. The age of the patients did not show statistical differences between the groups p> 0.05. Conclusion: Chronic Myeloid Leukemia has not been shown to influence bone loss on panoramic radiographs.Downloads
