Abstract

Introduction: Inadequate postures can lead to an imbalance of TMJ, as well as a change in posture can affect occlusion. Given that childhood is a stage of development, the body is more susceptible to postural deviations. Objective: To assess the immediate effect of the intervention in the TMJ in the biomechanics of posture in schoolchildren. Methodology: Intervention’s study, consisting of a private institution schoolchildren drawn from the district of Brotas, Salvador, Bahia. The schoolchildren previously authorized by those responsible were included in the study and underwent a postural assessment, using digital photos that were analyzed by the following SAPO protocol software. The children were photographed before and after the intervention using a disposable tongue depressor to each side and on both sides, the anterior and lateral views. Data were compared using the T of Student test with SPSS 14.0 considering a significance level of 5%. Results: Were founded statistical associations and clinics that demonstrate the influence that the positioning of the jaw exerts on body posture in children. Conclusion: The biomechanical effects on posture  changed after the occlusion of students did not have a uniform standard, determining that the changes had an individual character.
