Abstract

Introduction: In Classical Ballet the ballerina adopts an erect and elongated posture. She prefers to execute the ballet steps with her dominant side, witch may bring posture deviations, overload joints and facilitate injuries. Objetive: To analyze the posture alterations of classical ballerinas and its relation with the Ballet practice. Methods: The sample was composed with 14 ballerinas of Ballet institutions at Salvador, Bahia. A pretested questionnaire related with the Ballet practice was applied, an anthropometric evaluation and types of foot evaluation using photography and a posture evaluation conform the Postural Analyze System Protocol (SAPO) were made. Results: Were found significant posture alterations as anterior head, right shoulder elevated, straight thoracic, normal lumbar or straight, retranslated pelvis and recurvatum knees. These alterations had relation with 9 to 12 years of classic Ballet practice, 6 to 8 years of practice using the point shoe, practicing more than three times per week and more then two hours per day. Conclusion: The ballerinas presented as posture profile an anterior head, right shoulder elevated, straight thoracic, normal lumbar or straight, retranslated pelvis and recurvatum knees showing relation with an intense and longer train.
