The scientific journal is part of the Bahiana Journals webportal, sponsored by the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.
RIES is a journal that is full open access, charging no submission fees. Currently, it is indexed by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and by EBSCO, which gives it a wide range of circulation among researchers and those interested in its editorial areas. The journal's editors-in-chief are Ana Cláudia Costa Carneiro and Iêda Aleluia, professors from the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.
The journal receives articles in the area of education, comprehensiveness and health care in primary care; evaluation processes; teacher development; extended methodologies and abstracts that portray innovative educational practices, new ideas/resources and new approaches in any relevant aspect of health education.
Historic
The first issue was published in November 2017 and in its editorial, signed by the then director of the Centre for Medical Education (McGill University, Canada), Dr. Yvonne Steinert, the journal showed its reach in the universe of scientific research in the context of medical education. Since then, dozens of articles and experience reports have been published in English and Portuguese, contributing to the journal's mission, which is to give international visibility to relevant regional and national production in education and health, in their various interfaces and manifestations in the scientific field.
