SYSTEMIC REVIEW OF THE PROCEDURES OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN CEREBRAL PALSY

Abstract


Cerebral Palsy occurs because of a brain injury that may be caused during or after birth, also known as progressive not just injury resulting in various motor and cognitive disorders including delayed child development. The objective of this study is to elucidate the benefits generated by Occupational Therapy in the rehabilitation of patients affected by cerebral palsy, as well as review the concepts of this Pathology; collect data and references used as intervention by occupational therapists, indicating the possible benefits generated by the inclusion of it in the rehabilitation of this clientele. This study consisted in a literature review from searches in databases as Virtual Health Library, SciELO, portal de periodicos Capes and PubMed, with publication dates between 2000 and 2013, as well as in books. It showed the great importance of the intervention of occupational therapist in the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy.
